A NEW LOOK FOR OUR SURF SCHOOL

FOUNDATION SURFKIDS SHREDDING

SENEGAL

During my period of volunteering in Dakar, Senegal, in May 2024, I undertook the painting of some of the walls of a small surf school on Yoff Beach.

Following a series of trials and computer tests conducted in collaboration with the SURFKIDS SHREDDING SENEGAL association, it was determined that the optimal design would be to create and design waves that originate from all directions, in keeping with the characteristics of the Yoff beach where we all train.

The first step was to paint all the external walls white, after which the shape of the waves was drawn using tape. Subsequently, with the assistance of the children and other volunteers, we formulated the colours by combining white paint with dyes to create a range of blue shades for the waves and other warmer hues typical of the fiery skies at sunset here on Yoff beach.

The result is a large mosaic mural that is visible from a distance and attempts to evoke the surrounding area.

We hope that you will be able to visit Dakar and support the association.

I hope you enjoy the mosaic mural and would be grateful if you could send us an email to discuss how you can support the association.
